Ben's Art Show

This past February, we held an art show for Ben Feldshuh, a talented 88-year-old artist and friend.

You might already know the story: we threw the show for him so that his pieces could find homes, and the response was overwhelming.

The TikTok about it went viral, NY1 & NBC covered it, and the show was a huge success: over 300 people came, and every single one of Ben's 40+ paintings sold.

The magic of that evening prompted us to start an ongoing series, Hera Bridges, where we put older adults center stage. Our next event will be a talent show in June. If you're interested in participating, contact Sindi Stathi at sindistathicasting@gmail.com.

More About Ben

Ben Feldshuh has been painting since childhood. Growing up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, he drew his first picture in Kindergarten — a submarine — and never stopped. His path led him through Boys High School, Columbia College, medical school, and ultimately a long career as a psychiatrist.

Through it all, painting was always a constant companion. For seven years, Feldshuh studied in the studio of Sam Adler, who became a lasting influence and mentor. Despite pressures from his family to pursue more practical paths, he remained devoted to painting, working both in Adler’s studio and in his own, steadily building a body of work that he stored away over time.

Now, at 88, Feldshuh is sharing these paintings publicly, hoping they find homes with those who feel a connection to them. Created across a lifetime, the works are offered with a simple hope: to bring quiet, peace, and insight – and, if one speaks to you, to become part of your daily life.

“My work is inspired by life itself — by people and relationships, by animals and nature. Every painting I do is like being in a different state of mind. The painting talks to me — it tells me what to do and when it’s over.

When I’m painting, I’m free.”
