We’re excited to share the work of Ben Feldshuh, a talented 88-year-old artist and friend.
If you’re here, you might already know the story: we’re throwing an art show for Ben so that his pieces can find homes — and so he can take in the community appreciating and admiring his art.
A catalog of the work that will be for sale at the show is below. If you see a piece you’d like to collect, you can email us at community@hellohera.com and we can put it aside for you. All work will be available to take home after the show on 2/19.
100% of the profits of the show go directly to Ben — we’re doing this to create magic for him. Art ranges from $100 - $1500. He is happy to be flexible if there's something you love that is out of budget; his priority is "finding homes for his puppies".
If you haven’t already, please RSVP for the show below, we’re going to do our best to make more space so more can attend.

The Politician and the Microphone
$850
•

•
42"x32"
“I created this one when I was thinking about how anyone — but particularly politicians — can change once they’re given a microphone, and you’re not sure they’re the person you knew anymore.”
Animals and Man Shared the World

“The inspiration for this was animals vs. man. There’s this feeling that we see ourselves as very separate from the animal kingdom, but we’re actually very close. The barrier is thinner than we think.”
Ben Feldshuh has been painting since childhood. Growing up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, he drew his first picture in Kindergarten — a submarine — and never stopped. His path led him through Boys High School, Columbia College, medical school, and ultimately a long career as a psychiatrist.
Through it all, painting was always a constant companion. For seven years, Feldshuh studied in the studio of Sam Adler, who became a lasting influence and mentor. Despite pressures from his family to pursue more practical paths, he remained devoted to painting, working both in Adler’s studio and in his own, steadily building a body of work that he stored away over time.
Now, at 88, Feldshuh is sharing these paintings publicly, hoping they find homes with those who feel a connection to them. Created across a lifetime, the works are offered with a simple hope: to bring quiet, peace, and insight – and, if one speaks to you, to become part of your daily life.
“My work is inspired by life itself — by people and relationships, by animals and nature. Every painting I do is like being in a different state of mind. The painting talks to me — it tells me what to do and when it’s over.
When I’m painting, I’m free.”
