Coconut Oil and Facial Beauty

Hello Lovelies!

Hope you're all well. I apologise for my lack of posts recently (Guilty as charged!) but I'm back with a post today with regards to Natural Beauty.

Makeup is a super fun thing and it gives us the ability to transform ourselves in to whatever we feel like for the day/night. And with the beauty industry booming rapidly and offering us the latest products to deal with anything imaginable, it's pretty easy to get lost and side tracked from what REALLY matters - YOUR OWN SKIN.

Today, I'm gonna strip the makeup and take you back to basics. Your face goes through a lot during the day. It is where your emotions take their toll, it's where the sun and the wind hit you and it's where you slather on all your makeup. But do you take the necessary steps to ensure that your face is protected against the elements? Is it taken care of PROPERLY, to ensure your makeup sits right? I can assure you, NO brand of makeup, expensive or not, will work properly unless it has a good base to rest on. Look at it like a wall - if there is a crack in it or if it's not made of a good material, no amount of paint will cover up the flaws.

This is where my experiences come in. From as long as I can remember, my skin has pretty much been 'combination' with heavier drier patches in the winter. So I took to moisturisers as my best friends - as you do! However, lighter moisturisers left me flaky and heavier ones broke me out. My foundation would highlight my flaky nose if the moisturiser was too light and it would slip, slide and disappear if the moisturiser was too heavy. Not to mention my clogged pores and unsightly bad boy pimples! Nothing seemed to work until I was directed towards Coconut Oil.

Coconut oil is a renowned product in the beauty industry and I decided to give it a go about 6-8 months ago. I won't go in to how beneficial it is for your body etc, I'll literally just point out how I used it, and how it helped me out.

  1. It moisturised my parched skin! My skin has improved so much since I've started using Coconut Oil. I use it, daily, as a moisturiser after cleansing my face in the morning and in the evening. It's perfect for daily use and don't be deluded that it will leave you with that greasy, oily feeling- because it won't! If anything, it's kept my face oils balanced so that my skin produces enough oils to stay hydrated but doesn't go overboard and get clogged and angry! The skin on my face is plump, the fine lines (and yes I have got them!) have been reduced and my makeup goes on like silk!

  2. I use it in a scrub! Coconut oil makes a great base for a scrub. I use it once a week with a pinch of sugar (exfoliant) for some seriously smooth skin. An alternative for sensitive skin is coconut oil and a warm wash cloth for that same, but gentle, exfoliation. My flakiness is at bay, even in the central heating months and the anti bacterial properties of this oil also keep any monsters (spots) from creeping up on my face! Thus, I have a more even skin tone.

  3. I use it to remove my makeup! Gone are the days when I would purchase makeup removers because there is NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING in my makeup bag that Coconut oil can not remove. I don't usually wear waterproof mascara but if I did, it would be a breeze to take off. It even melts away my stubborn Benefit They're Real Push Up Liner and that's a tough formula! The best part is that it doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes which a lot of make up removers have done in the past but it still manages to get every bit of makeup off!

I can honestly say that my skin care routine has drastically changed since I switched to Coconut Oil. My life has become a lot easier and the number of products I use has significantly decreased. In the long run, I've saved a lot of money too because let's be honest, skincare products don't come cheap anymore!

I hope this helped those of you who have had similar skin troubles in the past or those of you who are just curious about Coconut oil. I would highly recommend it, but as with all skincare, please give at least three months to see noticeable results and stick to the purest and most natural/organic Coconut oil you can find.

Thank you for stopping by!

Love,

  1. I use coconut oil on my hair sometimes, but have never really tried using it as a moisturiser. I think I will give it a go now after reading this post as I can't find a moisturiser on the high street that actually gets rid of those dry patches. It really is a great product with so many uses :) xx

    1. You'll benefit from this a lot. I only started using it when my skin started playing up and it's been good since lol. You can buy this particular one from Sainsburys :-) xx

  3. Even though I have wipes and a remover I just love this as a makeup remover! I have starting using it more than my Garnier remover (which I also love haha). It takes everything off within in seconds and leaves nothing behind! It is definitely one great product.
