Leafy Lover! The Green Smoothie

Hello Beautiful,

You've probably seen people around you and on social media downing a green liquid, and wondering what's gotten into them?! Its a GREEN SMOOTHIE: a great way to get a bunch of fruits and vegetables inside your body in a fashionable (and tasty) manner. And it is tasty, I promise!

They are packed with anti oxidants, fibre and all that other nutritious good stuff and are super easy to make if you're heading out first thing or if you're in need of a quick 'pick me up' snack throughout the day. And the best part is, there's literally only 4 steps involved!

You will need:

  1. A liquid base: I am using water. You can go ahead and use any liquid base you prefer such as coconut water, milk or fresh juice. One cup should be enough but you can vary the quantity depending on how watery you prefer the smoothie.
  2. Leafy greens: I will be using a cup of baby spinach. You can also use kale.
  3. Fruit: I will be using a mixture of different fruits from a fruit salad made previously. You can add your favourite fruit. Please note that the addition of bananas makes for a thicker creamier smoothie so if that's not something you're after then leave it out or add a lesser quantity. I also freeze some fruit to use instead of ice such as mixed berries (gives the smoothie a purple tinge).
  4. Blender: I'm not going to tell you to go out and buy a specific blender! Any blender will do the trick.

Method:
  1. Add your leafy greens first and pack them right into the bottom of the blender.
  2. Next, add half of your liquid base and blend to a smooth consistency.
  3. Add the fruit and blend again.
  4. Finally, add the frozen fruit or ice and blend again until you reach your desired consistency.

And voila! You're all done!

Give it a try and your body will thank you! Let me know how you get on with the recipe or comment below to tell me your favourite green smoothie recipe!

Happy blending!
