A Fishy Tale: A Hair tutorial

Hello Beautiful!

Summer is here and there's no better way to tame your tresses than a cute braid. Here are a few easy steps for you to create this Fishtail braid.

  1. Gather your hair on one side and split into two equal sections.
  2. Grab a thin strand of hair from under one half and cross it over the other half.
  3. Repeat the same on the other side so that you have an 'X' shape in the middle.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 all the way down the hair. Remember to keep the strands fairly thin to give the braid the 'Fishtail' effect. Thicker strands will make the braid look more like a regular one.
  5. Your braid should look like this with 'X' shapes all the way down the middle.
  6. Tie the braid off with a small elastic.
  7. Pull on the sides of the braid to give it a voluminous and messy effect. Be careful not to pull too hard if you have layers as you risk pulling the layers out of the braid.
  8. Loosely pin back any left over hair from your bangs for a causal effect.
  9. Finished look!

Hope you found this helpful. Braids are great because they are so repetitive. If you can't get this the first time round, don't worry! As with all things, practice makes perfect!

Good luck!

Peace and Love,

  1. Nice pictorial! I love a fish tail braid, simple, easy but way better than a normal plait! I love the title of this post!
